Epson is expanding its Lifestudio lineup with a new ultra short throw option, the Lifestudio Grand Plus, priced at $3,799.99. It’s positioned as an all-in-one home entertainment solution designed to deliver a large, theater-style image without the need for a traditional large TV. The projector is available in both black and white finishes, which should make it easier to blend into different living spaces.

The Lifestudio Grand Plus is built around Epson’s ultra short throw laser platform, capable of projecting an image up to 150 inches from just inches away from the wall. It uses Epson’s 4K display technology to put 8.29 million pixels on screen, paired with HDR10 support for improved contrast and color. Brightness is rated at 4,000 lumens for both color (IDMS rated) and white (ISO rated).

On the smart platform side, Epson is integrating Google TV with Gemini, making this one of the first projectors to include that combination. The idea here goes beyond basic voice commands. Gemini is designed to function more like a conversational assistant, offering recommendations across more than 10,000 apps and hundreds of free live channels while also handling broader tasks like answering questions, generating content suggestions, or even helping with things like trip planning or schoolwork.

Audio is handled by a built-in 2.1 system with Sound by Bose technology. This is intended to provide a more complete out-of-the-box experience without immediately requiring an external audio setup.

The projector includes three HDMI ports and supports features like Auto Low Latency Mode and high frame rate input up to 4K at 120Hz, which makes it compatible with modern gaming consoles. Setup is handled through the Epson Setting Assistant app on iOS and Android, which allows for quick image sizing and alignment adjustments. There’s also the Epson Projection Studio app, which introduces a more social element by allowing users to create and share content on the big screen. Guests can contribute remotely using a QR code or link, and the app also doubles as a control interface for basic functions like volume and playback.

For those planning to use the projector in brighter rooms, Epson is offering its SilverFlex ALR screen as an optional accessory in 100-inch and 120-inch sizes. The screen is designed to reject up to 90% of ambient light, which can help improve perceived contrast and color during daytime viewing or in rooms with less controlled lighting.

Epson is backing the Lifestudio Grand Plus with a two-year limited warranty, along with lifetime technical support and a two-business-day replacement program that includes free shipping.
