MultiDyne marks 50th anniversary at NAB Show

MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems is celebrating its 50th anniversary today as the NAB Show 2026 approaches, marking five decades of engineering for the broadcast and live production industries.

Founded in 1976 by Vincent Jachetta, an NBC engineer, the company began in a family basement with the TS-1, the industry’s first portable test signal generator. The invention earned MultiDyne its first Emmy Award and established a philosophy of engineering precise solutions for real-world challenges.

The company has since evolved into a provider of fiber-optic transport, signal processing and live production solutions. It earned a second Emmy Award for its SilverBack system, which enables the use of cinematic cameras within broadcast workflows.

“Our story is about more than just longevity — it’s about evolution,” Frank Jachetta, MultiDyne CEO, said. “From the very beginning, our DNA has been about seeing a problem and solving it. That mindset has carried us from a basement startup to where we are today, and it continues to guide where we’re going next.”

In recent years, MultiDyne has expanded its operational infrastructure and product portfolio to meet demand across broadcast, digital cinema and professional AV markets. A key driver of this growth has been its expansion beyond North America, including the 2023 opening of a European office in Poland. The company is now targeting the Asia-Pacific region for its next major expansion.

“It’s no accident that companies do their best in their own backyard,” Jachetta said. “As we expand globally, we’re creating new backyards. We are building local presence, support and relationships in regions like Europe and Asia to better serve our customers.”

Looking ahead, MultiDyne is focusing on IP-based workflows, video compression, cloud integration and software-driven solutions. The company is also moving further into adjacent markets such as professional AV and enterprise live production.

“As the industry evolves, so do we,” Jachetta said. “We’re still solving the same fundamental challenge by moving video from point A to point B, but we’re doing it across more platforms, more markets and more regions than ever before.”

MultiDyne will demonstrate its latest technology at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 18-22, in Booth C4425.
