LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Robotaxi company Zoox announced Tuesday morning it was expanding service in several cities across the nation, including Las Vegas.
In less than a year since Zoox first launched in Las Vegas, the vehicles have driven nearly 2 million autonomous miles and carried more than 350,000 riders.
Tuesday’s announced expansion will add services in Las Vegas and San Francisco, and will start robotaxi testing in Austin and Miami, according to the Zoox website.
“This expansion marks a significant step forward for Zoox and is driven by the insights from our early deployments,” CEO of Zoox Aicha Evans said. “This is our year of growth. We are actively implementing learnings to confidently and safely scale our robotaxi service across the country and bring our differentiated experience to even more riders.”
The expansion includes access to “even more of the city’s most iconic destinations and venues along the Strip,” Zoox said. The company has “more than doubled” the number of locations for service, adding the Las Vegas Convention Center and the majority of the major hotels along the Strip.
Additionally, the company is beginning limited service to high-traffic events at both Sphere and T-Mobile Arena. The company has also been testing at the Harry Reid International Airport with the retrofitted testing fleet and “will soon begin driving our robotaxi in preparation for future service.”

In addition, based on rider feedback, the company announced it was introducing an updated ETA engine in order to improve precision on ETAs and pre-booking estimates to “give riders a clearer picture of their journey before they commit.”
